SAMWUMED is aware of false and misleading allegations being circulated by the Melomed Group. These claims are inaccurate, alarming, and rejected in the strongest terms. The Scheme is seeking legal counsel.
As part of routine network rotation — standard in the industry — Melomed was removed from SAMWUMED’s hospital network at the end of 2024. Since then, our claims experience has improved, allowing us to strengthen benefits and keep contribution increases low for our 31,000 members.
For clarity: members pay no co-payments when consulting any of our 3,000 Network Specialists, including those based at Melomed. Planned admissions to Melomed carry a 25% co-payment, as they are no longer a network hospital. Emergency, life-threatening admissions remain fully covered.
SAMWUMED remains focused on protecting its members’ interests and will not engage in further public debate.
