In the past 24 hours a further 566 people died from COVID-19 related complications, whilst 12 710 others tested positive for the virus.
The breakdown of the new deaths are as follows:
- Kwa-Zulu Natal – 218
- Eastern Cape – 104
- Western Cape – 104
- Gauteng – 80
- Free State – 46
- Northern Cape – 8
- Mpumalanga – 6
The total number of confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic has reached 1 369 426. Total deaths have reached 38 854.
