32 people died in the past 24 hours in the Eastern Cape due to COVID-19. This figure makes up more than half of the total 58 new deaths reported.
This follows 17 other deaths in the past 48 hours. The Eastern Cape Province is experiencing a higher death rate when compared to other Provinces.
South Africa’s total deaths due to the virus are now – 21 535
New cases of infection in the past 24 hours are 2 302, taking the total confirmed cases to 790 004 since the pandemic started.
