300 people have died and 8 147 others contracted the COVID-19 virus in the past 24 hours.
The latest statistics take the total confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic to 1 412 986 and deaths to 40 874.
The breakdown of the new deaths are as follows:

- Gauteng – 45
- Kwa-Zulu Natal – 70
