PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Responsible for ensuring that all Scheme assets are maintained and recorded in a fixed asset register accurately and in accordance with accounting standards and fixed asset management policies and procedures.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS WILL INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Receive and reviews the accuracy of fixed assets as per procured requirements.
  • Calculate, revise and update depreciation of fixed assets.
  • Review condition of fixed assets for recommendation for disposal to management.
  • Ensure that all fixed assets are insured for any risky eventuality.
  • Safekeeping of all fixed assets.
  • Tracking of Scheme expenditure of fixed assets against approved budget.
  • Reconciliation of fixed assets module to the general ledger.
  • Conduct periodic physical counts of fixed asset.
  • Prepare and collaborate with auditors as related to fixed assets.
  • Coordinate the valuation and impairment testing of all fixed assets.
  • Create and monitor systems control procedures as relates to fixed assets.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • National diploma in Accounting/Auditing or a NQF level 6 equivalent qualification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/Auditing will be an advantage.
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in fixed asset management.
  • Knowledge of financial regulatory standards (e.g. IFRS 16)
  • Experience and knowledge of fixed asset write-off versus sale of assets.
  • Strong/intermediate knowledge of MS Excel
  • Knowledge of a financial accounting system. SAGE 300 will be an advantage
