Plans for top cancer therapy centre in London get the go-ahead

UCLH hospital has secured planning permission from Camden council for a GBP125m project to establish a radiotherapy centre at its Bloomsbury campus. The new facility will offer proton beam therapy, the most advanced form of radiotherapy for cancer patients. The project is still subject to the approval of London Mayor Boris Johnson, but work on the centre is expected to begin in spring 2015, with completion scheduled for 2018. The facility, along with a sister unit at Manchester's Christie Hospital, will have capacity to treat the most paediatric patients in the world.
