Jodi

Jodi Williams | Back Office team leader

In 2006, Jodi started her career at the national broadcaster SABC, where she assisted both the PA to the Regional Manager and HR Manager with administrative duties. After three months’ at the SABC, she then expanded her horizons in the education sector as a Secretary at a primary school where she also carried out administrative duties. In 2007, she worked as a claims assessor for Naspers Medical Fund. Jodi held the position at Naspers until December 2008.

Having joined the Scheme in January 2009 as a Claims Assessor, a position she held for a year, she was then promoted to Senior Claims Assessor, and after four months into the senior position, she was offered a new position as a Senior Rules and Tariffs Assessor, which she held for three years. Jodi has held several positions at the Scheme including Quality Assurance Clerk, Back Office Supervisor and in August 2017, she was then promoted to Back Office Team Leader, a position she currently holds.

Ms Williams is qualified in Secretarial Studies from Rosebank College, Administrative Skills for Office Administrators from CPUT and obtained a certificate in Medical Claims Assessing through INSETA. She has attained a practical bookkeeping qualification from UNISA.

 

Lucinda

LUCINDA FELIX | CLAIMS TEAM LEADER

Lucinda has over a decade medical aid experience especially in the claims field. She previously worked for EOH Denis and Genesis Medical Scheme for more than eight (8) years dealing with claims. She believes the adjudication of claims processing can be summarised as a dual interaction between the two largest and most important pieces of the healthcare system: healthcare service providers and medical schemes. She joined SAMWUMED in 2016. After a year into her role as claims assessor, Lucinda was then promoted into a senior role as Claims Team Leader. 

Lucinda obtained a certificate in Electrotechnology, Industrial Electronics and Engineering Mathematics from Athlone Technical College, has a certificate in Human Resources Management from Boston College, and FIAS Accreditation in Short Term Insurance and Regulatory Examination certificate from Moonstone.

 

Laluma

LULAMA MPHEPHUKA | MEMBERSHIP TEAM LEADER

Lulama joined the Scheme in April 2018 as a Membership Team Leader in the Premiums Department. She started her career in 2006 at Metropolitan Health Group (MHG) working for one of the large schemes in South Africa as an administrator/data capture. After 18 months into the role, Lulama was promoted to senior position as a Call Centre Team Leader and then after two years; she was appointed as a Business Support Technical Specialist. 

In 2014, she made a career shift and joined UK’s leading provider of business process management and integrated professional support service solutions company, Capita SA as a Call Centre Team Leader, after which she joined RCS Group as a Business Process Coordinator; a role where she was responsible for analysing and designing new and enhanced business processes. 

Ms Mphephuka is currently in the process of obtaining a qualification in Information Technology. Furthermore she is trained in basic and advanced Industrial Relations and Team Leader Development Program.

Miryam van rheedE | client serviceS TEAM LEADER

Miryam’s professional career stems over two decades; she curved her grassroots in the financial sector as a Customer Service Consultant at Standard Bank where she worked for the national bank for over six years. In 2006, she made a career shift to the technological sector when she joined Syntel Business Solutions as an Administration Assistant. After two years at Syntel, Miryam joined SAMWUMED in August 2008, as a Call Centre Agent. Miryam held various positions at the Scheme including Back Office Clerk, Call Centre Supervisor and in August 2017, she was promoted into a senior role as a Call Centre Team Leader, a position she currently still holds.

Miryam’s accolades include a Certificate in Computer Studies from Amethyst Computer College and a Blue Star Certificate for outstanding performance in the category of Service Excellence issued by Standard Bank.

 

shamiemah

SHAMIEMAH DAVIDS | PREMIUMS TEAM LEADER

Shamiemah is currently the Premiums Team Leader, a position she holds since August 2017. She curved her career path at SAMWUMED, when she started in October 2009 as an intern in the Premiums Department. It is where she had the opportunity to learn about the role of a premiums and membership clerk a role she would then be offered in 2010. In August 2010, Shamiemah was offered a permanent position as a premiums clerk at the Scheme. 

After three years’ as a premiums clerk, she was then promoted to Membership Supervisor and in March 2016 a Premiums Supervisor. Shamiemah holds a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) Degree in Cost and Management Accounting from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) and a certificate in IHRM.

 simone

Simonè fester | Management accountant

Simonè has over 14 years’ experience in accounting and financial management. Since then, she held several positions in Finance under a range of sectors including media, investments, property and government. Her appointment as a Financial Accounting Officer to one of the Political Parties at Parliament, allowed her to manage prescribed Parliamentary Funding whilst also being responsible for establishing and operating a statutory compliant accounting and financial control system in a challenging political environment.

Her wealth of experience in finance was acquired whilst working for various sectors such as Percipient Property Solutions as a Financial Accountant, Reeds Motor Group as an Accountant, Sagitta Investments as Assistant to the Chief Financial Officer and assisting two Chartered Accountants at Metropolitan Employee Benefits.

Simonè joined the Scheme’s Finance Department in February 2018 as the Management Accountant and has obtained a National Diploma as a Technical Financial Accountant from Varsity College. Her other qualifications include an ICB Further Education and Training Certificate: Bookkeeping, ICB National Certificate: Bookkeeping, Introduction to Financial Management and CSPAIcb (SA) – Certified Senior Payroll Administrator.
Simonè is also currently in the process of obtaining her Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting.
